Totalitarianism is state regulation of nearly every aspect of public and private behavior.The five year plan included two goals: rapid growth of heavy industry and increased farm production through collectivization of agriculture.Secret police spied on citizens, and anyone who refused to praise Stalin and the state faced severe punishment, even death. Both Lenin and Stalin supported the idea of a world communist revolution and aided communists in other countries. In the 1920s, when some communist uprisings did occur in Europe, they were quickly suppressed. Stalin became a communism leader and wanted full control.

The film of doctor zhivago showed how Russia wanted to become a communism country.Some of the reasons the revolution happen was because the peasents were treated unfairly.The Russian soliders deserted war in rebelled against Czar. Since they could not decide on going to war or not they had so many conflicts which made a war. A sign of communism in the movie was when people was in Zhivago house that he didnt know n when you become a communism country you share everything including houses.

Nationalism is when you support your country. The Congress oif Vienna held after Napoleons exile to elba aimed problems to Europe . Britian, Austria, prussia,and russia decided on a new Europe which mad Germany and Italy as divided states. The settlement at the end of the Franco-Prussian war left France angry at the loss of Alsace-Lorraine to Germany and keen to regain their lost territory. Large areas of both Austria-Hungary and Serbia were home to differing nationalist groups, all of whom wanted freedom from the states in which they lived. Militarism the armies of both France and Germany had more than doubled between 1870 and 1914 and there was fierce competition between Britain and Germany for mastery of the seas. The British had introduced the 'Dreadnought', an effective battleship, in 1906. The Germans soon followed suit introducing their own battleships. The German, Von Schlieffen also drew up a plan of action that involved attacking France through Belgium if Russia made an attack on Germany. The map below shows how the plan was to work.

The Opium Wars was a British trade in China and was the first drug war. China was a country by itself. The British wanted to make money and trade with China. Chinba exported tea to Britian and return got drugs. They were called the Opium Wars because they Opium was a highly addictive drug that the English were giving the Chinese. The English won the Opium wars because they had modern technology and weapons and the Chinese couldnot compare.

The" White Mans Burden "

Well in away i think we are still living the white mans burden because the united states are still at war with Iraq. In the war is nonsense and its not for the USA use its for the president use. Then again i think we are not living the white mans burden because where not fighting for what we believe to bring peace we fighting for what we want and another country like the Europeans did in Africa. Yes i do believe the analysis of the poems because that is true that you should fight for what you believe in and bring peace instead of war in it should not be no royality but a leader i do believe that part. To me the white mans burden means honor in belief towards your country your fighting for your rights to bring peace towards your country today. Yes i do believe that the U.S is imperialistic today because we have power over Iraq.

The "Scramble of Africa"

The term the "Scramble for Africa" was the term used to describe the periods of imerpialism in Europe, when Europeans tried to get to Africa. They wanted to
explore Africa for numerous of reasons, one being all their natural
resources and they also wanted to explore the Nile River. Some of the nations involved in the scramble were, France, Great Birtan, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Eurpoe ultimately succeeded in gaining control of Africa. They won because they were civilized, and were able to strategies their defeat.Sometimes
they used their materials or gold to buy over some Africans. The
scramble effect, affect the African people in horrible ways. They were
taken from their homelands, killed and used as slaves. Many families
were broken up andvillages were destroyed.

Some hardships that Europeans faced was that they got dieases. They were attacked as soon as they got to Africa. There was lions and bugs. It was hard to get around and they landscape was hard to walk on. It is strange that the third largest lake in the world was named after the British queen because the Europeans went in started diving up the lands in naming places. Even though it wasnt they country or land. The name should be named after the African man since it was not the British land.The primary technological advantage Europeans had was that they were civilized. They had a full grown society. People lived in houses. Had nice cloths and a government in place. Meanwhile the Africans, still lived in small tribes. They hunted food and wore "savage like cloths" Overall Europeans were able to conqueror Africa because of they were civilized and had technology such as gun powder and riffles. These things allowed them to defeat the Africans in war.

Matthew Perry "bullied" the japanese into signing a trade treaty by trying to negotiate opening trade relations with the united states. The negotation between Perry and the Japanese were not so much of a negotation but more of being bullied by display of military might. The modern technology that Perry introduce to the Japenese was really impressive because Japen didnt have that for there warships which made it more easier to compliance with the U.S wishes. Japanese economy changed during the Meiji era by a downward spiral. They modernize and industialize by going to England and America in from seeing how they factories and other stuff was operated they copied it in took it back to Japan and thats why so much stuff is made from Japan. Archipelago is a chain of islands.

My definiation of nationalism is a movement of a nation which from your nationality can determine like where you come from and how you know that you are that specific nationality.Like me being in America and knowing im a american from my social security number shows that im nationalistic because im a citizen of the U.S.A. Well to show that im nationalistic i go to church every sunday thats how i show im nationalistic. I also say the pledge of allegines.Before nationalism people knew nothing of their own nation knew was of their own lord they we're loyal to. When nationalism hit, people started to unify, ones with same culture, and same language.This very thing happened in Italy where the people we're starting to question there loyality. From that they started forming their own nation. In 1832 and idealistic Italian man called Giuseppe Mazzini started his own nationalistic group with which he was planning to create nation states, in hope of bringing peace to Italy.

Simon Bolivar and Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar was famous because he was one of South America's greatest generals. His victories over the Spaniards won independence for Bolivia, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. He helped defeat Spaniards Boyar in 1819 for independence. After a meeting in 1822 with another great liberator, Bolivar became dictator of Peru. His army won a victory over the Spaniards at Auacucho in 1824, which needed Spanish power in South America. Upper Peru became a separate state, named Bolivia in Bolivar's honor, in 1825. Simon was influenced for his quest to a revolution when he returned to Venezuela, Bolivar joined the group of patriots that seized Caracas in 1810 and proclaimed independence from Spain. He went to Great Britain in search of aid, but could get only a promise of British neutrality. When he returned to Venezuela, and took command of a patriot army, he recaptured Caracas in 1813 from the Spaniards.

Robespierre became the dominant member. Their aim was to eliminate all internal counterrevolutionary elements, to raise new armies, and to assure food supplies for the armies and cities. Some of their measures were demanded by the people of Paris, whose support was essential. he reign of terror was a 10 month period during the French revolution when struggles between the rival factions led to many conflicts.The terror took the lives of about 25,000 people and in the last month 1,900 executions took place.A man named Robespierre who was a political leader and one of the most influential figures of the French revolution and the main man of the reign of terror.
His executions were carried out with the guillotine.

One cause for the French revolution was because France was bankrupt and no one really was paying taxes and they was making the peaseants contribute more knowing they didn't have nothing.Years of feudal oppression and fiscal mismanagement contributed to a French society that was ripe for revolt. It was the first estate, the second estate, known as the the clergy and the nobility and the third estate. The third estate felt used because they were fed up with their mistreatment, activists and pamphleteers of the Third Estate took to the streets in protest. What really trigged the revolution was the national assembly which consist of making a new constitution.

July 14 1789 mob of Parisian citizens storms Bastille prison and confiscates weapons. The enlightenment thinkers influenced the revolution because there ideas that the had were making the French people question there government.

Geocentric:if the universe is the disproven theory that the Earth is at the center of the universe and the Sun and other objects go around it. Belief in this system was common in ancient Greece. Heliocentric:is the theory that the sun is at the center of the Universe and/or the Solar System. The geocentric theory came first and the heliocentric came out of the scientific revolution. Galileo Galilei faced trial before the Holy Office for promoting in a book his idea that the earth did not sit at the center of the universe. In the 1633 trial of Galileo Galilei, two worlds come into cosmic conflict. Galileo's world of science and humanism collides with the world of Scholasticism and absolutism that held power in the Catholic Church. The Catholic church put Galileo on trail because he had violated the 1616 (so-called) injunction against teaching, holding, or writing about Copernican theory.
